Alamo Software Recommended Backup Procedures

Alamo Software strongly recommends that every center performs daily backups. There should be a different floppy or zip disk used for each day of the week. For instance, a floppy or zip disk should be labeled "Monday", another "Tuesday", etc., until there is one for each day to be rotated and used on the day indicated on the disk's label.

At the end of each day, TransCheck should be closed on ALL of the center's computers.
Note: This is VERY IMPORTANT as nothing will be backed up if TransCheck is open on any computer.

Insert a floppy or zip disk into its drive on the main computer.
Note: Backups performed on workstations will be empty.

Start the TransCheck Backup program and go to Backup > Repair Orders on the menu at the top of the window. Next, select Backup To Floppy Drive (or Zip Disk if applicable) and click OK.

It is also recommended that a complete backup of the TransCheck program be performed once a month. This can be accomplished by using the TransCheck Backup program to backup to a zip drive or to a CD if your computer has a CD-RW drive.

Please note that Alamo Software shall not be responsible for lost data due to hardware failure, defective media, or operator error. In the event of hardware failure, TransCheck can be reinstalled and data can be restored from backups if available. Alamo Software also assumes no responsibility for the generation and maintenance of adequate backups.

Please call Alamo Software before attempting to restore data to the TransCheck program. Whenever possible, the service of reconstructing files when no adequate backups are available will be performed at the Alamo Software hourly rate which is currently $75.

Alamo Software also offers the Alamo Backup Service. For $35.00 per backup, Alamo will backup your TransCheck files to a CD and store them for you.
